Music became Jimmy’s lifelong passion from an early age, transitioning from clarinet to the guitar before discovering his true calling with the bass. Influenced by legendary British rock icons like Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, and Jack Bruce, Jimmy’s musical journey was further shaped by a transformative encounter with Jack Bruce himself during a solo performance in the late 1970s.
Throughout the years, Jimmy’s musical odyssey led him through various genres and bands, from classic rock to jazz trios, and even a stint in the heavy metal scene with Blind Fury in the 1980s, where they rocked iconic venues like the Fillmore West and Keystone Palo Alto.
In the 1990s, Jimmy delved deeper into the roots of bass playing, discovering the legendary James Jamerson, whose influence resonated deeply with him. Inspired by Jamerson’s work with the Funk Brothers, Jimmy embarked on his own musical endeavor, founding Soul Commitment, a Motown disco revue that captivated audiences across Northern California for over a decade.
In 2023, the Midnight Hour Band NoCo emerged onto the scene. Their inaugural performance in December of that year marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in live music.
